Japan Patent Office made an announcement on January 18, 2016 that official fees will be reduced from April 1, 2016. As a result, trademark registration fees will be reduced by about 25%, and renewal fees will be reduced by about 20%. The new fees will be effective from April 1, 2016 and will be applied to all registrations and renewal applications thereafter.
